State Farm. After 7 years, no claims, and over $5,000 later, they’ve determined that I’m to much of a risk to hold on their balance sheet. I talked with an insurance agent – she helped be with car insurance in 2001 as well – and it looks like my only choice is Citizen’s. The ‘Insurer of Last Resort’ created by the State of Florida to pickup those, like me, who have mortgages that require home insurance, but can’t get insurance because the house is in Florida. Of course as the last stop on the road to un-insurability they charge twice as much ($1,100 vs. $550) for about 1/3 the coverage.
