World of Tanks = Waste of Time

Sadly, the devs did not meet the challenge. They left serious flaws in the experience and left the non-paid players as farmable targets to bolster frustration, thus revenues.

WoT is pay-to-win, and really there is nothing that can be said about the current game that’ll make me change my mind. I would not recommend this game to anyone.

It’s because they do things like this…

I was relaxing after a hard day’s work with a little Colbert on Hulu Plus. Suddenly, the screen goes grey, I see the Xbox UI Cancel button, and then I see the most recent picture of Baxter and Pebbles taken by the wife. After a moment of puzzled bewilderment from me and a squeal from […]

And So It Goes, Again – for the Fourth Time

Naturally, the day I finally get the game I’ve been waiting for, my Xbox 360 decides it’s going to take a dirt nap.  Two of my previous 360’s have died by the dreaded and greatly feared Red Ring of Death (RROD), another’s DVD was bricked by a mandatory Dashboard Update.  This time it’s the less […]

The new Xbox Experience – Can’t I keep the old one?

July 16th, 2008

Don’t get me wrong, there was a lot of WIN in the MS dog and pony show, but the Xbox Experience already has major issues. None of these ‘improvements’ benefit me. Basic Interface Old: Boxes-in-boxes portal with slow response times, an ill-defined selection frame, and a labyrinth maze of scrolling lists. New: Hidden, non-contextual menu […]

Strike up the band and hand out the cigars!  My Xbox is back from McAllen, TX with a much quieter DVD drive and fans.  Technically, it’s a whole new machine that was built on April 11, 2008. But I am just going to ignore that fact and jump around saying “It’s back! It’s back! Wheee!” […]

After a week of whining, I found out a way to get the wife to agree to let me buy an new Xbox 360 while my previous one is getting the spa treatment in McAllen, TX. The scene:  I’m watching TV in the living room. The wife turns the corner to go into the bedroom.  […]

Celebrating my friend’s birthday, I was able to partake of the Gaming Goodness that is Rock Band.  Just a little hit, but enough to keep me going for a while. Microsoft, make with the fixed console stat!

Followup: Xbox support system is still down.

June 23rd, 2008

Much like yesterday, the support center is “unable process my return, please call back later”.  This is starting to irritate me. Update:  Four hours later, the system is now “up”, coffin on it’s way via UPS.

Third time’s not quite the charm…

I was enjoying a Hardcore Team Deathmatch in CoD4 when my Xbox 360 froze solid. It has been quite dependable over the last year and a half.  Frozen less than a handful of times.  This one, however, was the deathknell for the white box.  I rebooted, and was treated to the Xbox 360 start up […]

Living Room Renovation (Stage 5a)

May 5th, 2008

Or in other words, desperately wiring the new shrine so that we can once again gaze upon the Electronic Demi-God with love and awe. Again with the non-trivial A/V setup: Wire drops in the attic and wall for the surround sound speakers. Love that attic in the Florida heat! Run Ethernet, cable, and the four […]
